Only 7 days until my birthday!! Also 107 days until the wedding :)
Since I had a 3 hour break in the middle of the day (a couple of my patients had to cancel), I thought it would be a good time to update my blog :) Recently I've been trying to plan my bachelor party in Las Vegas, which is going to be AMAZING! It will be fun to see Ryne Foster again since he lives all the way over in Arizona now. He has a group of 11 people with him, and I will have a group of 4. One fun thing about it is that of my four, I'm the only one that's been there before. Fun, fun. I only hope that I don't leave too much of my gambling money out there :)
Elizabeth and I are also planning to head back to IA over the Easter weekend for a couple's wedding shower that Saturday, and to pick up our marriage license. If we're lucky, maybe we can stop in for a bite to eat at the Northwestern Steakhouse in Mason City.
Yesterday my boss ordered a Chicago deep dish pizza for lunch to celebrate my birthday. Over the last few weeks, he's only been working Mondays, Wednesday afternoons, Friday mornings, and every other Saturday morning. What a work ethic! I must say though that it was nice of him to have lunch for me and to give me a $50 gift card.
My NCAA bracket is in shambles. Number 1 Pittsburgh, which I had in the championship game, decided to loose in the 2nd round. Then after double-digit seeds Florida State, Marquette, Richmond, and Virginia Commonwealth made the Sweet 16, my bracket gets even worse. LOL. To my credit, I did have Richmond winning their first round game at least. Right now the Bulls have the best record in the East, and it will be exciting to see how they are able to manage come playoff time.
I'm still debating with myself as to whether or not it's a good idea to try the Lucky's sandwich challenge.

I'm looking forward to another fun weekend as future mother-in-law Becky comes to visit... and we plan to go downtown to a piano bar and meet up with Sarah, and likely we'll run into her family later during the weekend.
I had a long break for lunch today, so I went back to my favorite sushi joint to indulge... Sushi Para :) It's hard to beat quality sushi made to order (all you can eat) for $15.50. Here is a look at the damage I made:
Now, they did mess up my 2nd order (I wanted 3 salmon, 2 tuna, and 2 red snapper)... so since they missed 3 pieces I decided to order a little more for my "dessert".
Wow, that was one huge lunch! I won't be eating supper tonight for sure. Talk about getting your money's worth :) I did realize after I ate all 36 pieces of sushi today (and was completely stuffed), that maybe I should think twice about trying to eat 3 Lucky's sandwiches. I would think that it would be harder than eating all of this sushi... and it's really no fun to eat so much that it makes you miserable. Plus, I'm a little worried that I won't even get close to eating all 3 sandwiches. Oh, what will I do?

So the main thing on my mind today is my decision to try the Lucky's Sandwich Contest as seen on Man v. Food. It will be a birthday present for myself, and it will be one more thing that I can check off of the Chicago "bucket list" before we head back to Iowa. I've wanted to do it for probably a year and a half now. My fiance has told me that she will be "supportive" as I embark on this quest to prove my manhood via sandwich gluttony. However, I've become skeptical of her support after reading her recent blog.
Of course it seems only fair that I can't try something this admittedly stupid and barbarian without getting a little flack for it. Nonetheless, I really want to try it just to end my curiosity over whether or not I actually can do it. I need to test the limits of my gastrointestinal fortitude, I need to see if I'm man enough.
Now my only real debate will be: Pastrami, Corned Beef, Capicola, Cajun Chicken, Ham, or Smoked Turkey. Which 3 will I pick, and in what order do I attack them :)
On a side note about today, my boss drove me and Kathy crazy. (Note to self: Mr. P.R. - World War II veteran).

I had a very busy weekend with wedding planning over the past couple of days... 1) Picked out Tuxedos at Men's Warehouse 2) Ordered my wedding ring (Kays) and Elizabeth's (Jareds) 3) Ordered invitations online
I even managed to drive down & visit Timmy & Alana on Saturday night. I almost forgot what weekends can be like when you don't have to work for one of the days! I'm also looking forward to March, my favorite month of the year... between March Madness basketball, St. Patrick's Day, the end of winter, and my birthday... it's clearly the best.

Today I filled up my car on regular unleaded which cost $3.55. WTF?!?!? How can gas cost so much? The stupid part of it is that my car can run on E85 which was $0.70 cheaper the last time I compared it a month ago. Of course, none of the nearby gas stations in Palatine have E85... none that I've found anyways. One more reason why IA > IL. Where is the ethanol hiding in Illinois??
On a happy note, it's the weekend AND I DON'T HAVE TO WORK!!! No real plans at the moment... hopefully I'll get a chance to relax!

Here's what I had for lunch today. Yummy!! Sushi Para is my favorite place to eat in the suburbs. Pictured is 3 pieces of salmon, 3 tuna, 3 eel, an "American Dream Roll" which has shrimp tempura and avocado among other things, and a "Crunch Roll" which is the one with spicy sauce drizzled on top. BTW I also enjoyed another plate of 15 pieces for a total of 35. Mmmmmmmm! On another note, Happy 61st dad!

Happy Valentine's Day!!
Although today was a busy Monday at work, it turned out to be a fun day. The temperature outside got up to the 50's today which helped melt lots of snow leftover from the 22-inch storm we had a couple weeks ago. I bought a dozen nice roses that looked like a blend of yellow/orange/red which made my fiance happy :) We made homemade pizza for supper tonight (Elizabeth made a simple peperoni while I had peperoni, onion, and black olive). We both insisted that our own creation was the best. We should make a tradition of homemade pizza for V-day!
I felt bad for one of my patients today because she really aggravated her back yesterday. She has a herniated disc which normally causes pain in her right leg, and before yesterday she was managing it well for at least 2-3 weeks. Then she took a big step back when she spent 12 hours working at a Karate tournament where she had to sit at a low table and constantly twist her trunk and reach while she worked. She said that by noon she felt like crying, but she kept working because she felt that she had to. Now it is killing her, and she is limping really badly. I wish she could learn how to avoid aggravation because this is getting to be a pattern for her.
